I have decided I should be logging this project. The project is already underway but we aren't too far in so I don't think it's too late.

Project: Eat Sansom Street

The premise of this project is very simple. Eat at every eating establishment on Sansom Street, Philadelphia, working from East to West starting at Broad Street.

Why?
I work in downtown Philadelphia. Sometimes I am good about making and bringing lunch but often I am not. On those many 'not' days I get lunch from nearby food establishments. Usually the same ones. Over and over again. I often find myself walking down Sansom street on my way to one tried and true spot or another. One day it occurred to me that not only are there an awful lot of places to eat on Sansom Street, but I have not tried quite a few of them. As I walked along I thought about this. Should I go into the Crepe place and give it a whirl? What would I even order there? And then it came to me. I will eat at every place I haven't tried! And because I'm me, it had to be a project. I will be systematic about it. I won't just go to all the places I haven't already tried - I will go to every place. I will invite friends to join me. And so it began...

Seed Bombs!

We will be representing at the Trenton Avenue Arts Festival which accompanies the Kinetic Sculpture Derby this Saturday (yeah that's tomorrow!) in Kensington, PHILADELPHIA (not Trenton New Jersey!!).

Newly available are our marigold seed bombs pictured above! Three for a dollar! We will be sharing a space with the lovely jewelery of Paperchime Designs. Come on out and see some crazy cycling action!!

T-Shirts Available!

Get your marigold conspiracy kit!

A mere $15 gets you a t-shirt, a tablespoon of organic marigold seeds and a card with our mission statement on it. The t-shirts are all organic and all hand registered. Like flowers each one is slightly unique.

T-shirts come in ladies fitted small, medium and large, ladies regular large and x-large, and men's small, medium, large and x-large. There is a very limited number of men's small and medium left already.

We will be selling seeds, seed bombs and marigold conspiracy kits at the Trenton Avenue Arts Festival on May 22nd so you can get yours there or you can email us at marigoldconspiracy@gmail.com to make other arrangements.

Marigold Conspiracy Launch Event!

Dear friends fans and strangers! The moment we have been building towards since November is coming right up! We are ready to distribute marigold seeds amongst you in time for spring planting. If all goes well the city of Philadelphia will be a veritable field of red orange and yellow this summer!

What: Potluck - bring your favorite dish, donation yoga class - proceeds to benefit a garden oriented children's program tbd, seeds swap - bring your extras and trade them for something new and exciting and, of course, the release of the t-shirts. Fleur de Lehigh beer is being donated by the gracious folk at the Philadelphia Brewing Company.

The organic marigold seeds from Seeds of Change have arrived! Looking forward to getting them parceled out and ready for distribution after the holidays!

Manifesto

This is a conspiracy!

We are conspiring to cover the city of Philadelphia in marigolds! Guerrilla gardening with intent to beautify!

There are little things you as an individual can do to improve your city and make it a more beautiful and pleasant place to be. We all have an impact. When we work together we have an even bigger impact. The Marigold Conspiracy is part movement, part art project and part a demonstration of that idea.

The way it works is this:
For a mere $15 (enough to cover expenses - this is not a money making venture folks!) you get a packet of marigold seeds and a t-shirt (from an edition of 100 hand printed shirts) as a token of your participation. We ask that you share an email address with us so that when the time to plant has come we can notify you and share with you some planting tips. You will then plant your seeds at various locations around the city - spots that you think could use some color. We encourage you to plant in public spaces - areas where others can enjoy the flowers as well. Marigolds are a relatively easy to grow, low maintenance annual. Although they will sometimes re-seed themselves they are non-invasive. They are also edible!

Although it is not required you can participate further by adding your planting locations to the google map. This way we can all find planting locations and visit them. We also encourage you, as the flowers grow and bloom, to post photos. We are big fans of documentation and would be most grateful if you feel like participating in this part of the process. Our goal is to have enough flowers blooming all over the city to make those not participating in our conspiracy think 'gee, where did all these marigolds come from'!

Because the seeds are on back order (organic seeds from Seeds of Change) the kits are not available yet. Once they are more information will be posted about how to obtain yours. This will likely occur in February.
